Cristiano Ronaldo is taking legal action against a businessman who claimed the Real Madrid star bought a Rio de Janeiro favela and gave it back to the residents rent-free.
The story recently circulated among German media outlets, the claim being made that Ronaldo, 31, had bought the favela in the Brazilian city for €2 million, per Sky Sports News HQ.
That he then returned it to the residents on a "rent-free basis" reportedly came from a property agency, and a representative of Ronaldo has now confirmed that the forward is suing the source of the story, who is alleged to have also invented other stories about the Portuguese in the past, per Sky Sports' report:
Following the issuing of a press release with false information about Cristiano Ronaldo, the player has decided to move forward with legal action against the misuse of his name.
