Cristiano Ronaldo scores 50 goals five seasons in a row

The Ballon d'Or holder reached half a century of goals this term having played 45 games for Real Madrid, despite missing a spot kick earlier in the Liga tie with Malaga.

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 50 goals for his fifth consecutive season - a feat never before achieved in Spanish football.

The Portugal international signed for the Santiago Bernabeu club in 2009 and, in the process, took his goal-scoring ability to another level after leaving Manchester United.

His 50th goal of 2014-15 came in Saturday's 3-1 win over Malaga, ensuring he reached the half century for the campaign having played only 45 matches.
