Real Madrid talisman Cristiano Ronaldo has offered Lionel Messi an unlikely source of sympathy after the Barcelona superstar recently announced his retirement from the Argentina national team.
The Portugal captain recently spoke to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo and said it "hurt" to see Messi take his leave of the international stage following last month's Copa America final defeat to Chile, per MailOnline's Tom Bassam:
"Messi has taken a tough decision and people should understand. He is not accustomed to defeats and disappointments, not even finish the second. Missing a penalty does not make you a bad player.
