Conte on Giovinco and Pirlo omissions: Playing in MLS has consequences

The Italy national team boss took an overt swipe at Major League Soccer when justifying the pair missing out on the Azzurri's Euro 2016 squad.

Italy national team head coach Antonio Conte didn't hold back on Major League Soccer when discussing Andrea Pirlo and Sebastian Giovinco's omissions from his Euro 2016 squad.

The New York City FC midfielder and the Toronto FC forward were both left off Italy's 30-man preliminary roster for the tournament, which kicks off next month in France.

“We evaluated him [Pirlo] and Giovinco, it’s normal that if you choose to go and play there [MLS] then you can pay the consequences in footballing terms," Conte said at a press conference on Tuesday.
