CONMEBOL has opened disciplinary proceedings against River Plate in the wake of this past weekend's Copa Libertadores chaos.
Following a 2-2 first leg draw against rival Boca Juniors, River Plate were set to host the second leg decider on Saturday.
However, that match was postponed after supporters attackers Boca Juniors' bus before the game, injuring several players just hours before kickoff.
Now, the federation has opened a case against River Plate, who will have 24 hours to respond to CONMEBOL's notice.
"The South American Football Confederation - CONMEBOL- announced that the Disciplinary Unit has opened a disciplinary process ex officio against Club Atlético River Plate, due to incidents that occurred on November 24, 2018, the date that the second leg match of the CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores 2018 was scheduled," the federation announced in a statement.
