The Copa America Centenario has been the best-attended event in the tournament's 100-year history, and officials are mulling similar collaborations in the future.
As things stand, the Copa America Centenario has been a once-in-a-lifetime event — but it might not stay that way.
The chiefs of CONMEBOL, CONCACAF and U.S. Soccer expressed interest Friday in hosting similarly combined tournaments in the future, with officials announcing the Centenario edition will end up being the highest-attended event in the Copa America's 100-year history.
"Looking at what this [Copa America] has been, it's been a success," CONMEBOL president Alejandro Dominguez told reporters in New York, in quotes published by MLSsoccer.
