Club America legend, Cristobal Ortega, passes away

Ex America legend, Cristobal Ortega has died. Ortega played all of his career in America, where he has the record for most games played with the team as well as tied with the most titles along with Alfredo Tena. Ortega also had a long career in the National team where he made the World Cup squads of the 1978 and 1986 World Cup.

Ortega was one of the names synonymous with Club America’s most successful spell in the 1980s. Along with Captain Alfredo Tena, Ortega would win 6 Liga Mx titles with America and be part of the America team that won 5 titles during the decade, something not closely achieved until this past two years.
