Club América assured themselves a place in the 2018 Liga MX Apertura Final after crushing rivals Pumas UNAM 6-1 on Sunday.
Miguel Herrera’s side took an early lead after goalkeeper Alfredo Saldivar failed to control a Renato Ibarra shot.
In the 24th minute, Pumas responded by scoring a goal of their own when Carlos Gonzalez blasted a header past Agustin Marchesin.
But with Las Águilas dominating possession, it was a matter of time they would regain the lead. Bruno Valdez continued his phenomenal scoring run in the Apertura by heading a corner past Saldivar to put the score 2-1.
