Club América defeated Monterrey 2-1 in the first game of the two-legged final where the Aguilas should have put the game to bed. Rayados had no answer in the second half and were saved multiple times by their goalkeeper. Only 90 minutes remain for Monterrey to make a comeback or for the Aguilas to make history as Tricampeon.
The final did not start off well for Monterrey who lost one of their important players as Lucas Ocampos was forced out of the game due to injury in the fourth minute. Soon after, the Aguilas looked more dangerous on the ball and had a very clear chance at goal as Kevin Alvarez had the ball in front of goal but his shot went right over the crossbar.
