Club America beat Monterrey with Oribe Peralta winner

Club America maintained their push for a place in the Liguilla as they beat Monterrey 1-0 on Saturday.

Monterrey arrived to this game as one of the hottest teams in the league, but for large parts of the first half, they were restricted to hanging balls towards Rogelio Funes Mori, who remained isolated and starved of good passing.

There was more purpose to Las Aguilas, and after a scoreless first half, Club America took the lead when Osmar Mares’ cross found Oribe Peralta a few yards out to fire in the breakthrough.

Monterrey immediately improved after conceding, calling upon Arturo Gonzalez and Jonathan Cristaldo from the bench in search of an equalizer.
