A late first-half penalty from Carlos Salcido helped Chivas snatch a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their 2016 Liga MX Apertura quarterfinal clash against rivals Club America.
Chivas looked to be running into trouble at the Estadio Azteca when William da Silva slotted home from a Silvio Romero flick in the 24th minute.
After riding the storm, though, the Rebaño Sagrado snatched the equalizer at the stroke of half-time. A penalty was called for an Edson Alvarez tackle on Carlos Alberto “Gullit” Peña. Carlos Salcido stepped up and timed his penalty run to perfection to put things at 1-1 heading into the break.
