Celtic have been crowned the Scottish Premiership champions for the ninth successive season after the SPFL opted to end the 2019-20 campaign as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. The league was suspended on March 13 with eight games left due to the health crisis, and with the Hoops topping the league table with 13 points, the board decided they are worthy winners. Rangers had a game in hand and were insistence on finishing the campaign as they fancied their chances, but it wasn’t enough to stop the SPFL. The Championship, League One and League Two have already been ended after a majority of the 42 SPFL clubs voted, and the board were also given the power to end the Premiership season if it became clear that the remaining fixtures could not be played.
