Chivas win Copa MX, beating Leon 1-0

Oswaldo Alanis scored the winner in the 71st minute as Chivas beat Club Leon 1-0 on Wednesday night to win their third Copa MX title.

The championship was Chivas' first major trophy in nine years. They had last won the Apertura league title in 2006.

After a scoreless first 45 minutes, Chivas went forward and in the 71st minute, Oswaldo Alanis' powerful header from a Raul Lopez free-kick found the back of the net.

With 10 minutes remaining, Chivas goalkeeper Rodolfo Cota was called on to make a big save. Luis Montes set Mauro Boselli in the area and his right-footed shot was kept out by Cota.
