In a game marred by controversy at the Estadio Akron, Alan Pulido scored a stunning strike in the second half as Chivas Guadalajara snatched a 1-0 win over Toluca to go top of the Liga MX table.
Chivas created the better openings to start the match, and had a penalty shout early when Fernando Beltran was brought down inside the Toluca box.
However, the Diablos Rojos sprung to life thereafter, and Raul Gudiño had to be called into action almost immediately, parrying a Luis Angel “Quick” Mendoza shot wide.
After a scoreless first half, the hosts began the second period brightly, and in the 57th minute, Alan Pulido grabbed the breakthrough for Chivas.
