Nestor Calderon's second half strike earned Chivas a 1-0 win in their first home game of the season as they brushed aside Monterrey at the Estadio Chivas.
Both sides came into the game having gone winless in their opening game of the season, but Calderon's goal was all the Rebaño Sagrado needed to seal their first three points of the Apertura.
The former Santos Laguna midfielder capitalized on a a superb volley with 23 minutes to go in the game to give Matias Almeyda's side the lead.
Despite having increased possession of the ball in the closing stages of the game, Antonio "Turco" Mohamed's men were unable to plug in their chances and were held to their second winless game of the season.
