Chile beat Uruguay in battle of extremes

SANTIAGO, Chile -- Maurico Isla's late strike means Chile are now 90 minutes away from the Copa America final. But La Roja's 1-0 quarterfinal win over Uruguay will be most remembered for an act which redefines gamesmanship and skullduggery and two managers at opposite poles each steadfastly clinging to their view of the game.

In football, as in most things, you can either do what most do -- try to do it better. Or you can be different, come up with something new and hope it will give you an edge. Managers exist along this continuum and, on Wednesday night, Uruguay's Oscar Washington Tabarez and Chile's Jorge Sampaoli found themselves at opposite extremes.
