Chicharito makes Bayer Leverkusen debut

The Mexican striker made his first Bundesliga appearance Saturday, but his new club fell to a surprising defeat at the BayArena.

Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez made his Bayer Leverkusen debut Saturday as the Mexican striker's new side fell 1-0 at home to Darmstadt.

Chicharito came off the bench in the 58th minute for Hakan Calhanoglu, but he couldn't stop Leverkusen from falling to a surprising defeat at home to the newly promoted side. Aytac Sulu scored the winner in the eighth minute for the visitors.

The Mexico international completed a deadline-day swap to the German side from Manchester United for a fee reportedly worth around $13.
