Chelsea squandered an opportunity to make a move up the Premier League table Saturday, as they shockingly fell 1-0 to AFC Bournemouth on an 84th-minute goal by Dan Gosling at Stamford Bridge in London.
With the loss, Chelsea remained fourth in the standings with 29 points. A win would have tied them with Manchester City for third. Meanwhile, Bournemouth leaped from 15th to 13th with 19 points and moved further away from the relegation zone.
The defeat was surprising not only because it came on their home pitch, but because Chelsea largely dominated the play statistically with 67 percent possession, 18 shots to 11 and five shots on goal to two.
