Champions League: Bayern’s win over Juventus is great news for England

Juventus’s loss to Bayern Munich didn’t come as good news just for the German club. The Old Lady’s agonizing loss meant England could hold onto it’s fourth Champions League spot.

Each country is allocated a certain number of Champions League slots which has been based upon its UEFA coefficient. The coefficient is calculated from Champions League and Europa League results over the past 5 seasons. The top three countries get four Champions League slots, while the next three get just three. Behind Spain and Germany, England has the third-highest UEFA coefficient at 74.
