After a scoreless first half in which they rarely tested the Colombian defense, the United States were offered a major lifeline shortly after halftime in their round-of-16 match at the 2015 Women's World Cup.

Colombia goalkeeper Catalina Perez brought down Alex Morgan just inside the 18-yard box in the 47th minute, which resulted in a red card for Perez and a penalty for the U.S. Sports Illustrated's Ryan Krasnoo provided a replay of the incident:
