Carlos Vela’s goal on Friday in Los Angeles FC’s 4-3 win over Atlanta United was his 36th in Major League Soccer, making him leveled with Erick “Cubo” Torres as highest Mexican goalscorer in the history of the league.
Vela scored his only goal of the match after earning a penalty in the in the 42nd minute. This was Vela’s 22nd goal of the season and also gave LAFC a 3-1 lead.
Vela has been breaking all sorts of records this season, and most recently, he was selected captain for the 2019 MLS All-Star team for a second consecutive year.
