Frenkie De Jong has been the start of what was a very productive preseason for Barcelona. We all knew how good he was at Ajax and the Dutch national team, but playing for Barça is a different deal and we were all curious to see how long it would take for him to adapt and start showing his quality. And it didn’t take long at all.
De Jong has slotted in seamlessly in midfield, either playing in Sergio Busquets’ position or alongside him in a more advanced role, and his performance in the preseason finale against Napoli on Saturday was the cherry on top and virtually guaranteed him in the starting XI for next week’s La Liga debut against Athletic Bilbao.
