Carles Puyol was quick to offer his view on Lionel Messi after the Barcelona captain produced a masterclass against Espanyol.
The skipper scored two brilliant free-kicks and produced a superb assist for Ousmane Dembele as Barcelona coasted to a 4-0 win over their local rivals.
It was a performance that made a mockery of his fifth-placed Ballon d’Or finish this week, a point Puyol alluded to on social media.
He tweeted: “Does anyone doubt he’s the best? He doesn’t need individual prizes.”
Messi now has 11 goals and eight assists in 13 La Liga outings his season.
