Canelo’s two goals earn Toluca a 3-2 win over Club América

Alexis Canelo’s second half brace earned Toluca a thrilling 3-2 win over Club América to keep their Liguilla hopes alive with two games to go in the regular season.

The Diablos Rojos coped best early on when Federico Mancuello fired past Agustin Marchesin in the fifth minute.

Toluca then came close to doubling the lead twice through Alan Medina and Rodrigo Salinas, but it was América who eventually leveled with Roger Martinez, who latched on to a Mateus Uribe through ball before placing the ball into the back of the net.

The Club América chances kept coming after the break, and they should have taken the lead when Andres Ibarguen struck the woodwork and Sebastian Cordova failed to score from the ensuing rebound.
