Bayelsa United secured a 1-0 victory over CS Sfaxien in Sunday’s Caf Confederation Cup second round, first leg encounter.
Having subdued Guinean side AS Ashanti Golden Boys in the first round, the Nigerian National League side were pooled against the Juventus of the Arabs – who have won the competition on three occasions.
However, it was Bayelsa United who had the last laugh thanks to Victory Beniangba’s effort on the hour mark.
The Yenagoa based outfit could have gone at least three goals up in the first 45 minutes but profligacy and excellent goalkeeping by Mohamed Gaaloul ensured that the goal did not produce more than one goal.
