José Maria Marin, the former president of the Brazilian soccer federation and one of nine FIFA officials indicted by the United States last spring, was extradited to the United States and scheduled to be arraigned in Brooklyn federal court on Tuesday.
Mr. Marin, 83, was among seven men arrested in Zurich in May for his role in the widespread FIFA corruption scandal. He had been held in jail by Swiss authorities since then, contesting extradition to the United States until late October. On Tuesday, the Swiss Federal Office of Justice announced, Mr. Marin was handed over to two United States police officers who accompanied him on a flight to New York.
