Boca Juniors president resigns from AFA

The official has stepped down from his position within the organization following the Superclasico controversy.

Boca Juniors president Daniel Angelici has resigned from his role as vice president of the Argentine Football Association (AFA).

The official has come under increasing scrutiny following the violent scenes in the Superclasico clash between Boca and River Plate.

The game saw four River players attacked with pepper spray by opposition supporters during the Copa Libertadores round of 16 game on Thursday.

The incident left the injured requiring hospital treatment, while the game itself was suspended, with Angelici announcing his decision to resign.
