MANCHESTER, England — Bob Bradley, the former coach of the United States men’s national team, will become the first American to manage in the Premier League after being appointed to replace Francesco Guidolin at Swansea City.
Swansea currently sits 17th in the Premier League table, having won just one of its opening seven games. Defeat to Liverpool on Saturday convinced Steve Kaplan and Jason Levien, the club’s American owners, to relieve the 61-year-old Guidolin of his duties. He had been given the position on a permanent basis only in May.
Together with Huw Jenkins, the Swansea chairman, Kaplan and Levien had interviewed a number of candidates in recent weeks in case they decided to replace Guidolin.
