Blatter faces criminal proceedings

The Swiss attorney general has opened criminal proceedings against FIFA president Sepp Blatter, who is being questioned on suspicion of criminal mismanagement as well as on suspicion of misappropriation.

The Swiss authorities say that Michel Platini is also being questioned as witness over payments from Blatter in 1999-2002.

A statement read: "The Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland (OAG) has opened criminal proceedings against the President of Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) on suspicion of criminal mismanagement as well as - alternatively - on suspicion of misappropriation.
