After seven years of playing in the A-League, Besart Berisha became an Australian citizen last week and it's cast fresh speculation he could be returning to a competition he's won five times.
The 33-year-old is currently contracted to J-League side Sanfrecce Hiroshima but hasn't played a single minute in 2019 which likely made his return Down Under last week for a citizenship ceremony possible.
Berisha has, in fact, started just one game for Sanfrecce since joining them last year and has been restricted to 170 minutes of football across all competitions.
That lack of action plus his new Australian citizens makes him a prime candidate to return to the A-League with former Melbourne Victory teammate Archie Thompson welcoming the prospect.
