Benzema confirms Euro 2016 absence

The Real Madrid striker revealed on Twitter that he will not play for hosts France at the upcoming European Championship following a meeting with the FFF president

France striker Karim Benzema and the Federation Francaise de Football (FFF) have confirmed the striker will play no part at Euro 2016 following a meeting with FFF president, Noel Le Graet.

Le Graet and Les Bleus coach Didier Deschamps met on Wednesday to discuss Benzema's participation in the tournament and later released an official statement explaining Benzema's exclusion. However, the Real Madrid striker pre-empted that announcement by tweeting he will not be considered for selection by the host.
