Barcelona’s La Liga clash with Sevilla on September 11 could go ahead as planned after the RFEF reportedly turned down La Liga’s request for a postponement.
La Liga asked for the game, and Villarreal vs Alavés, to be rearranged due to the the fixtures clashing with World Cup qualifiers in South America. Sevilla had also asked for the game to be moved.
If it goes ahead the hosts are likely to be without Papu Gómez, Marcos Acuña and Gonzalo Montiel, while Barca will have to cope without Ronald Araujo who is with the Uruguay squad.
La Liga have issued a statement confirming they will challenge the RFEF’s decision, but it remains to be seen if they will win or if the game will indeed go ahead as originally intended.
