FC Barcelona and Juventus FC had reached an agreement over the transfer of Federico Chiesa, who had agreed to join the Catalans as well. That was the word from the Italian media, who said the deal could become official on Wednesday or Thursday - provided that Barça could clear enough space on their wage bill.
That last sentence is what ultimately has killed the deal, according to Spanish media. While the transfer made sense to all parties - Juventus get money to sign Jadon Sancho and do not lose Chiesa on a free transfer next year, and Barcelona get a winger on the cheap - it seemingly has been ruled out.
