Barcelona have been warned that Lamine Yamal’s latest ankle injury is “not a typical sprain” and could be more serious than first feared.
The Catalans have confirmed Yamal is out for “3 to 4 weeks” after suffering the injury in Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Leganes.
Dr Ripoll of the Ripoll and De Prado Sport Clinic (a FIFA accredited medical center of excellence) has shared his thoughts on the problem.
“It is not a typical sprain, it is a much more specific injury, a slight tear of the membrane that joins the tibia to the fibula, which is known as syndesmosis,” he told Cadena SER.
