Barcelona told Marc-Andre ter Stegen could ‘take a year to recover’ from knee injury

Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen could take 12 months to recover from his knee injury.

The German sustained a “complete rupture in the patella tendon in his right knee” against Villarreal and has now undergone surgery on the issue.

Dr Roberto Seijas, who is part of Ramon Cugat’s team, has spoken to RAC1 and explained the difference between his previous knee injury and why it may take a long time to recover.

“Ter Stegen could take up to a year to recover,” he said. “They are two different injuries. The one treated in August 2020 was tendonitis.
