Barcelona president Joan Laporta’s Erling Haaland dream fades after striker commits to Man City

Manchester City and Erling Haaland raised a few eyebrows on Friday after it emerged the goal machine has signed a new contract at the club that runs until 2034.

It’s an enormous deal for the Norwegian who will be 34 by the time it finally expires, meaning he seems to have effectively committed his whole career to City.

The length of the deal is remarkable and so is the timing. City are set to learn the verdict of their trial into FFP breaches in the coming months and if found guilty may face hefty sanctions.

Haaland has scored 111 goals in 126 games for City since moving from Dortmund and, it’s probably fair to say, most clubs would love to have him in their team.
