Barcelona ‘optimistic’ Lamine Yamal will be fit for Spanish Super Cup clash with Athletic

Barcelona are said to be “optimistic” that Lamine Yamal will have recovered from his ankle injury in time for their Spanish Super Cup clash against Athletic Club.

The teenager was ruled out for “3 to 4 weeks” after sustaining the injury during the team’s shock La Liga defeat to Leganes earlier this month.

However, Yamal’s recovery has gone well and Barca expect him to be available for the game against Ernesto Valverde’s side on January 8 in Saudi Arabia, according to Marca.

Barcelona still plan on being cautious with Yamal, and won’t rush him back, but it seem he may well be able to enjoy some minutes during the game.
