Barcelona manager Hansi Flick spoke about Dani Olmo’s absence after his team’s 2-1 defeat to Las Palmas on Saturday.
Olmo had been expected to feature at Montjuic, although reports emerged ahead of kick-off that he had picked up a knock and would miss out.
The summer signing did make the squad but didn’t play a single minute despite Barca sorely lacking attacking inspiration during the 90 minutes.
Flick was asked about Olmo after the defeat and revealed why he had not featured.
“Dani ’s quality brings a lot to our game. He had minor discomfort and we didn’t want to take any risks because we need him,” he told reporters.
