Barcelona hope to announce Xavi as the club’s new manager on Friday, according to the latest reports.
Vice president Rafa Yuste and director of football Mateu Alemany are in Doha to do the deal, while Xavi is believed to have met with Al Sadd owner Mohamad bin Khalifa al Thani on Thursday to try and seal his exit from the club.
Xavi made it clear on Wednesday, after Al Sadd had insisted they had no intention of letting him leave, that he feels the time is right to finally head home. The former midfielder said it would be “spectacular” to return to the Camp Nou and take charge of the team.
