Three of Barcelona’s top choices for a new defensive midfielder are drifting away, for different reasons, according to a new report. Guido Rodríguez, Joshua Kimmich, and Martín Zubimendi are three players wanted by the Catalans to replace Sergio Busquets. But the search may go on to look elsewhere.
Rodríguez, who plays for Real Betis, is 28 years old, and it’s understood Deco wants to move away from older players in the transfer market. A recent ankle injury requiring surgery has also made Barcelona re-think whether they want to approach him.
Kimmich is 28, and once again there is a desire to go for a younger player who may be even hungrier for titles.
