Barcelona could compete with Liverpool for the services of Timo Werner, suppose they are unable to sign Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan this summer, a report from Mundo Deportivo claims.
The Blaugrana are aiming to sign a new striker during the next transfer window, who can act as a long-term replacement for Luis Suarez up front.
Martinez has been identified as their prime transfer target but they have a stumbling block as the Nerazzurri may be reluctant to accept anything less than the £102m release clause in the striker’s contract.
As a result, the Catalan giants may look elsewhere and Mundo Deportivo reports that Werner has emerged as the ‘Plan B’ option to bolster their centre-forward department this summer.
