Barcelona have confirmed that Marc-Andre ter Stegen will undergo knee surgery after suffering a “complete rupture in the patella tendon in his right knee.”
Ter Stegen sustained the injury in the first half of Sunday’s 5-1 win over Villarreal and was stretchered off and taken to hospital.
Barcelona have now confirmed the injury is as serious as we all feared and that the goalkeeper will go under the knife.
A statement read: “Tests carried out on the first team player, Marc ter Stegen confirm that he has a complete rupture in the patella tendon in his right knee.
