Barcelona Atletic coach Rafa Marquez could be about to head out of the club and take on a role with the Mexico national team.
ESPN are reporting that Marquez is wanted as manager Javier Aguirre’s technical assistant for the 2026 World Cup and a deal is “very close” to being finalised.
The plan would be for Marquez to work under Aguirre for the first two years of his contract and then succeed the boss after the World Cup.
The Mexico boss wants to add some youth to his coaching staff and Marquez looks to be a good option after doing an impressive job with Barcelona Atletic.
