Despite surpassing Bobby Charlton to become England's record scorer, Wayne Rooney is not on the same level, says Gordon Banks.
Wayne Rooney will not go down in history as the equal of Bobby Charlton, according to national icon Gordon Banks.
Rooney overtook Charlton to become the highest scoring player in England's history with his 50th international goal against Switzerland in Euro 2016 qualifying, adding another to his tally in the 2-0 win over France in November.
However, Banks does not believe the Manchester United captain will warrant the same level of recognition as his 1966 World Cup-winning teammate when his career comes to an end.
