According to The Athletic’s Gregg Evans, Aston Villa have opened contract extension talks with left-back Matt Targett, while summer arrival Matty Cash is also expected to sign a new deal soon.
The Midlands outfit are keen to reward their best players with improved terms as they prepare for the seasons ahead, and the full-backs are set to follow the likes of Jack Grealish, John McGinn, Tyrone Mings and Ezri Konsa in committing their futures to the club.
Targett has two years remaining on his current Villa contract, but is in line for a pay rise and extension after a fine run of form.
