Arsenal have been dealt a significant blow in their reported pursuit of Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka after the Bundesliga club's sporting director rubbished reports linking him with the Gunners.
Xhaka has long been on Arsenal's radar and could reportedly be snapped up for £26 million, per Gregg Bakowski in the Guardian.
However, Borussia's Max Eberl has insisted that the 23-year-old is happy to stay in Germany and has denied any contact with Arsenal over the Swiss, per Sport1.de (via the Telegraph):
There are no offers, there is no figure that I have seen in black and white and there is no contact with Arsenal.
