Arsenal and Sokratis face anxious wait as defender limps off with knee injury during Everton clash

The former Borussia Dortmund defender will have a scan on his injury following an early substitution in Sunday's win

Arsenal centre-back Sokratis Papastathopoulos may be set for a spell on the sidelines after being forced off with a knee injury in the Gunners’ 2-0 win over Everton on Sunday.

The Greece international, who had played every minute in Arsenal’s first six matches of the season, was replaced by Rob Holding in the 39th minute of the first half after feeling discomfort in his knee.

Goal understands Sokratis picked up the injury during a coming together with Everton winger Theo Walcott and he is now expected to have his injury assessed by doctors on Monday.
