Anibal "Mano" Ruiz dies after heart attack on field in Veracruz

The former Paraguay and El Salvador manager and current Puebla assistant coach collapsed on the field ahead of Friday's game.

Anibal Ruiz, Puebla assistant and longtime coach in Mexico and South America, died Friday after collapsing on the field in Veracruz. He was 75.

"We lament the death of our dear and respected assistant coach Prof. Anibal Ruiz," a Puebla release read. "We send our most sincere condolences to his whole family.

"Thank you, Mano, for your commitment to the Mexican football family. Rest in peace."

Ruiz was on the field ahead of Puebla's game against Veracruz when he fainted and had to be rushed to the hospital.
