Spanish newspaper Sport reported on Saturday evening that Iniesta had failed to make Luis Enrique's Barcelona squad for Sunday's trip to El Madrigal due to "muscle problems."
Barca make the trip to Villarreal hoping to extend their lead at the top of La Liga, with Enrique's side currently eight points ahead of Atletico Madrid with a game in hand.
