Two Kansas City locals have new teams heading into the 2019 season. First, former Sporting Kansas City academy player, Joey Piatczyc was drafted by the New York Red Bulls in the fourth round of the MLS Superdraft on Monday this past week. Piatczyc who was the MAC Player of the Year in 2018 while at West Virginia was also the team’s captain and all time leader in assists at the school. Piatczyc is likely to head to the Red Bulls USL Championship team, Red Bulls 2 at this time, but congratulations to the Lee’s Summit native on being drafted.
